Pearl and Daisy Lowe in Brazil for Christian Aid
Rex Features
Mother and daughter pair, Pearl and Daisy Lowe, have become the latest celebrities to support a charity campaign, after visiting the slum areas of Salvador in Brazil with Christian Aid.
Pearl, singer-turned-fashion-designer and her model daughter, Daisy, visited a fashion project supported by the charity, called Costurart to meet local women who can gather together safely to make clothes and earn themselves a living.
The slum area where the Brazilian women live called Calafate is one of Brazil's poorest neighbourhoods with serious drug problems. The area is extremely unsafe, preventing women from moving freely around the streets and they avoid going out on Sundays altogether, when most of the drug deals and gun battles take place.
The Lowe ladies were treated to a fashion show at the end of their trip, which featured Costurart's designs and Daisy joined the Brazilian models on the runway to show off the colourful creations.
Pearl, who was in the show's front row, said: 'I feel really humbled to be part of this event. I've been to quite a few fashion shows in my time but this is unique, and so much fun.
'I was able to watch the women putting the final touches to their collection and it was wonderful to see them laughing and working together. Many of these women used to be too afraid to leave the house but this project is really changing their lives.'

It really is fantastic to see two such style icons- mother and daughter, standing up for women, who's lives are being saved by themselves, through fashion. Congrats to being part of such an amazing cause :) x
