Marie Claire partners with Save the Children

Marie Claire has joined forces with Save the Children for their latest project, called Kroo Bay.



The children's charity has set up a hard-hitting, fully interactive new website where Marie Claire readers are linked directly to see what life is like for children living in a slum in Sierra Leone.



The charity wants to get Marie Claire readers involved and support the Kroo Bay project by giving a fly-on-the-wall view of how children and families live on a rubbish dump on the banks of the Crocodile River in Sierra Leone.



One in four children dies in Kroo Bay before their fifth birthday, making it one of the hardest places to survive in the world.



Today sees the arrival of Save the Children's second 'webisode', updating readers with a diary-style post of what the community has been up to. This second instalment is aimed at raising awareness of the health of mothers and their newborn children in developing countries.



With one in eight mothers dying during childbirth in Sierra Leone, Save the Children's latest chapter follows six mothers who are all due to give birth over the next week in Kroo Bay.



Marie Claire readers can follow their progress before and after the births. And on a lighter note, the community of Kroo Bay recently put on a slap-stick catwalk show, which is live now to watch on the site.
