Kate and Gerry McCann say nothing is worse than night Madeleine went missing

KATE MCCANN HAS spoken out about how her and husband Gerry have felt since their daughter Madeleine disappeared.

In a frank interview Kate McCann revealed that after everything the couple have been through, nothing compares to the night Madeleine McCann went missing.

'Each day has felt like a week,' says Kate. 'I don't think there has been one particular low moment. Time has passed by so surreally. But nothing compares with the night Madeleine went missing. Nothing is worse than that.'

Husband Gerry McCann reiterated Kate's feelings saying: 'Everything that has happened to us since is put into perspective by how we felt on that first night.'

The couple have made clear how grateful they are for the public's support. Strangers have offered comforting words to the pair and their local newspaper, the Leicester Mercury, where the McCanns spoke yesterday, have raised £57,000 by selling yellow-and-green Madeleine wristbands.

As the McCanns were speaking it was revealed a second senior detective had asked to leave the investigation into Madeleine's disappearance. The detective requested an extended leave of absence, effectively taking him off the case.
