Husband of tragic heiress to appear in court today

Hans Kristian Rausing is charged with delaying wife's burial

The husband of tragic heiress Eva Rausing will appear in court later today charged with delaying her burial.

Hans Kristian Rausing, 49, heir to the Tetra Pak fortune, will appear at West London magistrates’ court after it emerged that he may have lived with his wife’s body for a week or more after she died.

Mrs Rausing was found dead in the bedroom of the couple’s mansion in Belgravia on July 9 by police who had arrested her husband for possession of class A drugs.

Despite the charges his in-laws have vowed to stand by him, insisting that they love him ‘unconditionally’ and the couple were ‘devoted and loving for the 21 years they spent together’.

Mr Rausing has been receiving treatment for drug withdrawal and a mental breakdown in a secure unit since he was arrested.

His wife’s death is still being treated as ‘unexplained’.
