Are you 'de-prioritising' sex?

Sex is slipping down the priority list for many of us according to a new survey.  According to a new sexual health study found that women aren't making enough time for sex or enjoying it as much as we should.

The annual WomenTALK study, commissioned by HealthyWomen, looked at the sex habits of 1,031 women above the age of 18 and found that just 30 per cent had sex a few times a week and 66 per cent had sex just once a week.

'Beyond the benefit of forming a closer bond with her partner, an active sex life can decrease stress, strengthen pelvic floor muscles, increase immune system function and burn calories,' says Elizabeth Battaglino Cahill, executive director of HealthyWomen.

The majority of women see connecting with their partner as the most important aspect of sex, but only 42 per cent of us are 'very satisfied' with this aspect of our sex lives.

SIZZLING SEX TIPS

Naomi Greenblatt, a psychiatrist specialising in women's health says: 'There seems to be a growing trend in women having sex for obligation, not enjoyment purposes. Women say there are only 24 hours in the day, and they simply are not prioritising sex.'

Research from the Royal Edinburgh Hospital found that having sex at least four times a week can actually make you look 10 years younger than your actual age. So perhaps the time has come to put sex come further up our 'to-do' list.
