Stressed? You’re not alone

Marie Claire Health News: Stressed office worker

A new report published in the Independent has revealed that increasing numbers of women are being driven to the edge of breakdown.

Experts blame pressure on modern women to juggle their careers in an uncertain climate whilst raising children and looking after ageing parents.

The constant balancing act is taking its toll on our mental health. The past year has seen an overall rise of 3.4%  in people seeking psychiatric help but most worryingly 70% of this rise in demand came from women.

Women now account for 56% of the 1.2 million NHS referrals for outpatient and inpatient psychiatric treatment.

Two months ago an NHS survey of psychiatric services also showed a  12% rise in the proportion of women suffering depression and anxiety since the mid-1990s. Yet there was no increase in mental problems among men.

Paul Farmer, the chief executive of Mind, the mental health charity, said: 'Where there is increasing pressure at work and at home, it is often women who are expected to bear the brunt.''

Perhaps it's time we prioritised some time for ourselves.

Psychiatry is about making money and thats it. They have no cures. All they did is come up with names for supposed disorders and then push drugs on to the vunerable such as children in schools, the elderly or those dealing with stress that trust their doctors. What do the drugs do for them? Look at the side effects. Guess how many of the children and teenagers at school in America that shot their class mates and them selves were on psychiatric drugs? . . . All of them. There are many things that can be done to help those suffering with stress that will actually get to the route of the problem rather than clouding over peoples emotions with toxic drugs that kill the brains nerve endings and drive people to suicide. So the next time the doctor tries to prescribe you anti deppressants think about the alternatives and ask him about the side effects. Like I said psychiatry has no cures. But they make trillions of pounds and dollars a year. It just doesnt add up does it.
