Reading can make you happier, more successful and luckier in love, according to new research.
A study by the National Literacy Trust showed that 68% of men and 70% of women with good literacy skills are co-habiting or married, compared with 52% of men and 60% of women who struggle with it.
Just half of people who battle with books claim to be ‘satisfied with life’, compared with 78% of bookworms.
What’s more, literate people are more likely to be in more highly paid positions, and less likely to smoke.
