Big breakfast = better weight loss
By Carla Bevan on Wednesday 18 June 2008
We all know breakfast is the most important meal of the day, but did you know the more you eat at breakfast, the easier it is to lose weight?
A new study has shown that women who eat half their daily calories in the morning are more likely to lose weight than those who eat skimpy breakfasts.
Nearly 100 overweight women took part in the eight-month study in Venezuela, with half enjoying 50% of their daily 1,240-calorie allowance for breakfast and the other half having their food more evenly spread across the day.
After four months, those eating small breakfasts had lost more weight, however, as time went on, they put this weight back on, while those eating larger breakfasts continued to lose weight - and keep it off.
This research backs up a study conducted in the UK after five years which discovered that people who eat large breakfasts tend to put on less weight than those that don't, even if they consume more calories during the course of the day.
It is thought that eating most of your calories early in the day gives your body time to digest them more thoroughly.

Nothing new there, Joan Collins said the same thing back in the 1980's. She said that one should eat breakfast like a king and lunch like a prince and dinner like a pauper and that way will reduce weight and also help maintain it.
