More men resort to plastic surgery
More and more middle-aged men are resorting to plastic surgery and Botox to turn back the clock.
The new trend has been dubbed 'The Sarkozy Effect' after French president Nicolas Sarkozy married Carla Bruni, thirteen years his junior. Now men embarking on their second marriages are getting an extra helping hand to maintain their youthfulness.
The Harley Medical Group says 50% more men aged between 35 and 55 have had Botox injections this year alone, compared with the same period in 2007.
Male breast reduction procedures have increased by 47% and 43% more men have chosen microdermabrasion to combat lines and wrinkles.
Other popular procedures include chin lifts, the removal of eye bags and face lifts.
Actors like Michael Douglas - who is 25 years older than wife Catherine Zeta Jones - have undergone plastic surgery and 48-year-old Simon Cowell admitted recently to having Botox.
Liz Dale, director of a Harley Street clinic commented: 'Second marriages and career opportunities are the most commonly cited reasons for middle-aged men undergoing rejuvenation treatments.
The latest figures revealed that 20% of all Botox patients visiting Dale's clinic are men.
