High heels could lead to better sex
Wearing high heels could improve your sex life, a new study has suggested.
Although women are often warned that high heels can cause long-term damage to your feet, they also help to improve your pelvic floor muscles, in turn boosting your sex life. The muscle is vital to aiding sexual performance, and also supports the bladder and pelvic organs.
Italian urologist Dr Maria Cerruto led the study, which followed 66 women all under the age of 50. She found that those that wore a heel at least 2-inches high every day had better posture, which in turn put their pelvic floor muscles at an optimum position to build strength.
The position was deemed to be reliant to the angle of the women's foot to the ground, which was 15 degrees for those in the 2-inch heels.
The pelvic floor muscles weaken with age, and particularly after pregnancy and childbirth. Although women are advised that there are exercises that can be done to strengthen the muscle, Dr Cerruto suggests that wearing heels could eliminate the need to do these.
'Women often have difficulty in carrying out the right exercises for the pelvic zone and wearing heels could be the solution', Cerruto suggests, and added 'Like many women, I like high-heeled shoes. It's good to know they have potential health benefits.'
