Saint Laurent Paris is everywhere right now.
When Hedi Slimane, AKA ‘the prince of darkness,’ was first appointed creative director at Saint Laurent Paris, the news was received with divided opinions. The fashion industry wasn’t quite sure what to think. But this has only proved that any press is good press.
Hedi Slimane is just too cool to be knocked down by a few harsh critiques. And it certainly hasn’t stopped celebs from piling on his designs. His loyal VIP followers have made quite the impression on shoppers, turning the luxury house into one of the most coveted fashion brands.
According to Bloomberg, Saint Laurent sold way more dresses than predicted in the second quarter of the fiscal year. Sales for the luxury brand rose 29 per cent, surpassing the 22 per cent estimate. With practically all of Hollywood donning Saint Laurent, it’s no surprise that sales have rose that much.
Perhaps it was Slimane’s decision to move the creative studio from Paris to LA that has influenced his clout among the VIP crowd. Or perhaps it’s just down to the ultra-cool collections he just keeps churning out.
The real question is who isn’t wearing Saint Laurent Paris? While that quandary would produce few options, we’ve decided to take a look at who is:
Emma Watson looks demure in just about anything, but when she rocked up to the David Letterman Show in this Saint Laurent suit, she added an element of bad-assness that only Hedi could provide.
Case in Point: Angelina Jolie. The actress, director and mother will never let go of her edge, even though she's dropped the 'tude in exchange for work with UN. Saint Laurent couldn't have been a better choice for her BAFTA look.
Rosie Huntington-Whiteley wore this dazzling dress from the SS14 collection to the brits:
At the premiere of her new film The Sex Tape, Cameron Diaz looked elegant in Hedi's signature black. 'Prince of darkness,' indeed.
The quickest way to shed a girl next door image? A sleek suit. Emma Stone looked super sharp in double breasted Saint Laurent in London.
Daisy Lowe already has a penchant for rock-chic style, so Saint Laurent is an obvious choice for the model. She wore this spiderweb-inspired dress to The Wolf Of Wall Street premier.
