Jean Paul Gaultier's catwalk tribute to Amy Winehouse

By Fiona Raisbeck  on Thursday 26 January 2012

She was a style muse throughout her short life, and six months after her death the fashion world has paid tribute to Amy Winehouse once more, with Jean Paul Gaultier’s Haute Couture spring/summer 2012 show.

The French designer sent all his models down the catwalk in Paris yesterday dressed like the late British singer. From the messy beehives and ‘60s flicked eyeliner to beauty spots and bad girl attitude, JPG’s latest couture offering had Winehouse stamped all over it.

The clothes were Amy-esque too, with acid bright separates, polo shirts and ‘50s-inspired pencil skirts all featuring heavily, while at the finale, the models sauntered down the catwalk like mourners wearing veils, all while a band performed doo-wop versions of her biggest hits.

A celebratory send-off for a style maverick, we’re sure you’ll agree.
