Versace for H&M sells out in 30 minutes

By Lisa Potter - Friday 18 November 2011

Thousands of fashion fans across the globe queued for up to 24 hours to get their hands on Versace's hotly-anticipated collection for H&M.

Many shoppers camped through the night, waiting eagerly to get their hands on the brightly printed garments Versace is so well famed and celebrated for- at high street prices.

In Dubai and Beijing the H&M stores sold out of their entire collection in under 30 minutes- with many pieces ending up on ebay shortly afterwards.

First past the hordes of frenzied fashion fans camped outside H&M's London Regent Street store was the fashion label's legend Donatella Versace, who officially opened the doors at 9am yesterday.

Strict rules had been implemented to prevent a recurrence of previous designer collaboration launches, where fights broke out and shoppers cleared rails with the sole intention of selling on goods at an inflated price.

This time H&M had dozens of security guards on hand and shoppers could only buy one size in each garment.

But while the ecstatic style hunters ransacked rails in stores, those hoping to bag the designer collection online, and a lie-in, were left disappointed after the H&M website crashed under the sheer volume of visits.

This morning the site was up and running again, but the entire Versace collection has sold out.

Didn't manage to get your hands on the collection? Fear not, rumours have it that Tom Ford is next inline to collaborate with the high street chain, watch this space....
