Snap! Katie Holmes and Lucy Liu channelled the short and sweet look when they both stepped out in the same black and nude lace minidress by Azzedine Alaïa. But who do you think wore it best?

Actress Katie wore the layered shift dress most recently to last weekend’s MTV Video Music Awards in Los Angeles, accessorising her look with a pair of lace-up ankle boots by Proenza Schouler and her luscious brunette locks worn in natural tousled waves.

But Kill Bill star Lucy wore the dress first, walking the red carpet at a screening of Snow Flower and the Secret Fan in New York back in July.

Lucy also kept her accessories to a minimum, teaming the pretty dress with a pair of nude peep-toe heels and a berry red quilted clutch.
