The Observer Ethical Awards 2010
For eco-chic businesses, The Observer Ethical Awards are one of the highlights on the green calendar, attracting more than 8,000 entries this year alone. Last night, the great and the good gathered in London to find out who were this year's winners.
Colin Firth and Lucy Siegle (pictured right) were on hand to present the prizes with the big award of the night, The Observer Lifetime Achievement, being presented to Gordon Roddick.
Other notable prizes went to Riverford Organic Vegetables, named Online Retailer of the Year, and Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall, who was crowned Campaigner of the Year.
Marie Claire played its part too, as sponsors of the Fashion & Accessories category, with our Fashion Director, Jayne Pickering, sitting as one of the judges on the awards panel. After some tough competition, the prize in the end went to From Somewhere, the sustainable fashion label run by Orsola de Castro and Filippo Ricci.

'It's amazing to see how much these awards have grown over the last five years. I was delighted by the number and quality of the entries this year,' said Lucy Siegle, The Observer's Ethical Living Correspondent. 'The winners have fought off really tough competition and to be able to celebrate their achievements with our excellent panel of judges at the V&A has been very special.'
