It's a Spice-off! Victoria Beckham and Melanie Chisholm have both been snapped in this same bold-shoulder creation - which coincidentally was designed by VB's fair hand. But, we want to know who you think rocked the frock best...

When Victoria Beckham designs a dress, she naturally likes to give it its first public airing. Then, she lends it to all her A-list pals.

La Beckham had us all oohing and ahhing when she donned this floorsweeper of a frock over a year ago, to Elton John's Oscars party in February 2009.

Hot off the runway from her second ever dress collection, VB teamed the dramatic dress with her cute pixie crop, a dazzling emerald statement ring and one super-polished pose.

She even had the train of her dress arranged into an immaculate circular pool around her feet. What a pro.

Then, over a year later, and Mel C decided to borrow a Posh frock from her former bandmate for an appearance at the Laurence Olivier Awards in London last night.

She's never been a regular red carpet face, but Mel worked it well, donning her dress with a slicked-back 'do, heavily-kohled eyes and vampish black nails.

Shame she didn't have the same team of assistants on hand to arrange the train of her dress though, which was more of a puddle than a pool...

Good effort from Mel C, but when VB's wearing a dress that she designed herself... There's never going to be much competition is there?! She looks AMAZING.

Victoria. Mel C looks very pretty, but the epaulets on the dress aren't doing her broader shoulders any favors. (Then again, the dress would look quite plain without them.) Good on her for supporting a friend, though.

Mel looks lovely but Victoria knows only too well how to pose for the camera. Her shapes add excitement to the dresses showcasing them beautifully. She reminds me of an Art Nouveau sculpture - perfection.

If Mel C stood in the same model pose I think they would look the same! VB works the camera, whereas Mel C looks embarrassed to be photographed

Normally, VB gets on my nerves - too skinny and oh, how I wish she would smile. Is she worried about getting wrinkles?
I must say, however, that she looks really good in this dress. It makes her look more shapely than skinny, and she knows how to pose for the best effect. Mel stands awkwardly, and the dress looks square and bulky at the top.

Victoria looks better. Not just because of her shape and her curves (and her pose)..but also because she has better make-up than Mel C. Like it or not..VB does have curvy body - with tiny waist and all - even though she doesn't have much fat ass.

I think if Mel wore better make-up..maybe more smokey eyes..than she would look great too! I'm not saying she doesn't look great here..she is especially when we seldom (never!) see Mel in a dress..but I think she could have better make-up and yes, better pose to work the dress and her body.

Come on now! They both look good each in their own way....Mel has long said she gets nervy round clothes..wears casual..but what a waste..she looks terrific ..so what if VB is smaller..I thought the designs were for all women???..Surely VB would have said if she thought she looked a clod ..which she undoubtedly does not..VBs designs are a whole lot sharper and top notch than a lot of the other more known designers around now...

I hate to say it but Victoria Beckham Defoo looks better than Mel C - Victoria has the right body shape for it; I mean this does nothing for Mel, look at how it makes her shoulders so big! And her waist doesn't look neat either. Vic absoloutly rocks this number, she looks really relaxed and comfortable, you can just feel her confidence through her body position. Mel looks rigid and a bit 'deer in teh headlights' honestly. Sorry Mel!

OK - am I the only person who thinks the girls should just give this dress back to the nun they stole it from...?!! Apart from the fancy shoulders, it's very boring - no matter how far you stick your hip out!

I think VB looks better, but also because she has many more assistants to do all those details.
To make it clear; she doesn't have curves... she has had surgery and learned to strike a pose to make it look like she has hips. Not to be rude, but I wish we didn't allow people in the media to be so thin.
I think Mel C is a little unlucky with the picture; but I'm glad to see her in a dress for a change! Hope she isn't afraid to try it again sometime soon.
