How to get into ...

The K-cup bra hits the High Street

By Carla Bevan  on Tuesday 16 March 2010

Pump-Up Bra Pads - Inflatable Boob Job -

It's official, our busts are getting bigger.

According to new research, sales of bras in the D to G category have risen 50% every year since 2005 (one wonders what sized bras all these women were wearing before) and, to tap into that burgeoning market, Selfridges has announced it will now stock bras up to a size K!

The K-cup bra isn't anything new, having been launched two years ago by bra specialists Fantasie, but this is the first time its been readily available on the High Street, with Debenhams also carrying it in its lingerie department and Figleaves.com making it available to buy online.

For those who don't need a bra which measures a whopping four feet round, Selfridges has also upped its stock of all bras above a D cup and shipped in high-style designs from Agent Provocateur and Elle Macpherson.

'Breasts are getting bigger but it's not just because we are getting heavier,' biomechanics professor Dr. Joanna Scurr told the Telegraph.

'We don't yet know the reason, but it has certainly made women much more aware of the need for correct support.'

Because more women are having breast implants?!

Bravissimo is a company dedicated to helping women find the correct bra size, they specialise in bras for bigger-boobed women. Starting at a D cup and going up to a KK. They make their own bras as well as stocking some popular manufacturers, such as Panache, Fantasie Masquerade, Freya and Wonderbra. Check them out!

bravissimo aer on the high street and have been stocking a K and KK bra for at least a year. But can we please also remember that those of us with bigger boobs also do have very small backs i'm a 30K and i hate that people just assume that those who have big boobs mean you are big everywhere else !!

I am a 32G and i find it a nightmare to find a bra that fits. Most shops only do a 32 back up to a C cup and a G cup always starts at a 34 back - it's not fair!
Comment by Mrs H-B on March 16 10:14

Yes i agree with the above. I am a 32 GG and it is so difficult to find a sexy bra in my size. I regularly shop at Bravissimo but still find it extremely limited when it comes to stocking bras in my size. Larger cups tend to come in larger back sizes, which is no good for the thousands of girls like me!
Comment by KarleyB on March 16 10:29

You shouldn't complain..After a few years living in UK I moved to Czech Republic. I wear 34G. It's absolutely impossible to get anything even close to my size. D is the biggest you get normally on high street. If you wonder to bigger sizes lane you might eventually find monstrocity in E cup, so ugly that even my grandma wouldn't wear it. SO, I have to go back to UK to buy all my lingerie!

Not all people with naturally big breasts are fat or obese. I am a 32E bra size and I have a normal BMI and am a size 8 in clothes. I find it hard to find bras because many places dont have big cup sizes down to 32 or lower.

I don't really like the current trend of all these online websites, catalogues and now even high street stores creating bigger ranges and tailored clothes for obese people. We should be solving the obesity problem instead. What about all the healthy people who can't find clothes to fit them because they have a slighlty different body shape? All the adverts now are for size 14-22 etc..... so it was hard enough for me to find clothes in the first place and now it is even harder because they all seem to be targeting the majority which is overweight and obese people. I am petite but curvy and nothing ever fits me, but everyone is busy doing personal surveys and trying to make clothes to make people who are obese feel better about themsleves when really they should get help to not even be like that in the first place. With bras it is a bit different because everybody needs the best support for health reasons (but again they should loose wieght to be haealthy too) but please cater to people who are naturally weird SMALL sizes too - how hard can it be to make bras with large cup size and a smaller band size?
Comment by K on March 16 10:41

It's ok finding bras up to K cups, but do they have to be so cumbersome and unflattering. I may be a bigger cup size but I do not want a full cup bra that looks like something my granny may wear. So difficult to find what I'm looking for. I've even considered designing and making my own!
Comment by Louise on March 16 11:00

It's all very well and good having the right underwear (I'm a 34F) but a lot of clothes on sale don't accommodate you properly, either. If I try on a 12 shirt, the buttons gap, but a 14 is massive on the shoulder - I'm waiting for the highstreet to catch up with that aspect of my wardrobe, thanks.

I have a trouble buying 30F size bars. It's hard having a small back and big boobs. I agree with Mrs H-B we need smaller back bars in the shops too, with big cup sizes.

I check out Bravissimo - thanks Katie
Comment by Sara on March 16 14:13

I agree with Martha about the general clothes. If i buy dresses that fit over my boobs, they are huge on my stomach and hips etc. Not everyone with larger breasts has larger everything else aswell!!
Comment by Mrs H-B on March 16 14:34

Whilst this is good news. I - like most of the others on here suffer from the "small back - huge breasts" problem. I would officially be a 34LL and, sadly for me, NO-ONE makes them. Every bra I ever wear is a compromise - but can I just mention that the online shopping catalouges like Marisota and Simply Be also do quite a range of bras in bigger cup sizes at great prices - with the added benefit of being able to try them on at home so you know how they look under your favourite clothes.
Comment by Wendy on March 16 15:15

I used to live in Nottingham for 10 years and had to travel back to southport where my parents lived. That was the only place I could find bras for big breasts with a small back. Bras were horrible looking things. Thank goodness for breast implants- its dramatically improved the life for natural girls- we can now buy lovely lingerie at cheaper prices and don't have blokes staring as much as there are more bigger girls around
Comment by J Trickett on March 16 17:18

I have 32GG boobs and find it impossible to get luxury underwear. I love Freya and find they support me well but I'm always disappointed that places like Agent Provocatuer only do larger sizes in maternity/nursing bras. This is a great development and I'll certainly be checking it out. Plus I hate the people assume because you've got bigger boobs than normal that they're fake, I'm all woman and no silicone and damn proud of it!

Having just today come back from a new bra hunt...I have succeeded as find that bras and the width round are totally ridiculous..some are so narrow wouldnt fit round a cat!!.the cups also are too small and the variations on a theme ..well...It shows that they are made abroad to fit much smaller woman and I am certain that somewhere..there must be a woman with moderate boobs and the width of a small cat though all the sizes..and this applies to most of the major chain stores etc...Does anyone agree.?

I know someone who is 15 and has 32J cup breasts, she is slim, and simply has big-boob-genes, although her mum isn't as big but is much wider :S
Comment by Susan on March 16 20:37

it is about time! there are plenty of larger cup sized women out there, those with small back sizes like me (30FF) right up to voluptuous ladies who need both a larger back and cup size! it's quite right the high street began to really embrace reality on this one - I was shocked agent provacteur don't go up to large cup sizes. Bravissimo is your best bet for choice and a good fitting, try the high street for the bargains once you know your proper size! yey for larger cup sizes!
Comment by rachael on March 16 21:14

I am glad bigger bras are coming to the highstreet, i have had big boobs all my life.. when i was 15 i was a 32GG and finding bras was HELL! now im 21 and a 32JJ all i can say is thank god for bravissimo bras!
Comment by Natasha on March 17 11:34

..to add to my previous comments..I had 3 bra fittings at differing high street wellknown stores and they each made me different!! and one made me between 3 yep.3 sizes from 34 to 36 ..its so daffy...then u get brought bras to try on that look for all the world like a couple of parachutes stuck together..horrendous....Does anyone know who does good bra fittings that are easily accessible on the high Street.??
Also..hate those thin tape like straps that dig in and fray after about 2 washes and twist but dont want big fat straps either.
Comment by anon on March 20 10:23

I agree im the same size and many highstreet stores don't stock them in a 32 back and if they do their so expensive
Comment by anon on April 07 18:18

There are quite a few 32GG choices now. Bravissimo is a great choice, especially if you can visit a store like and get fitted. I went to Brighton and they fitted me in a 32H a few years ago and up until then I'd been wearing a bra that wasn't fitting my back and feeling very frumpy!

I'm now wearing a 32GG and I still buy from them but also buy online. I find Panache Confetti bras are a good fit and also the new Curvy Kate bras from Brastop (cheaper!) Take a look at this site, you can search by bra size and it saved me ten pounds last week.

I have been measured in Bravissimo Aberdeen as a 32KK as this is the largest cup size they have. Is their another supplier of 32KK/L bra's that you know of?
