Amy Winehouse turns fashion designer for Fred Perry
By Rachel Holmes on Thursday 11 March 2010
Fred Perry, the label worn by everyone from mods, to rude boys, to punks, has collaborated on a new collection with soul singer Amy Winehouse.
The star may not have any qualifications in fashion design but she certainly has a distinctive style and this is what she's drawn on for the collaboration.
Usually seen wearing ballet pumps, a beehive and fifties-style shirt dresses, Winehouse's own wardrobe has been raided and translated into designs for the brand.
'I'm really excited about doing this collection with Fred Perry. We've been working on it for a while and it's great to see it finally come to fruition,' explained the multi-talented singer.
The singer is not new to the world of fashion: she designed a capsule collection last year alongside Peaches Geldof for the British label PPQ.
Now, for Fred Perry, she's done 17 pieces, with both clothing and accessories included, all of which have been sketched out by the singer. The lines are sharp and sexy and come with a bucket load of sassy attitude.
