London Fashion Week tribute to Alexander McQueen announced
By Lucy Hutchings on Thursday 18 February 2010
London Fashion Week will kick off tomorrow, just a week after the death of Alexander McQueen, and the first tribute to the much-loved British designer has already been announced.
An installation will be unveiled and on-show during the biannual fashion-fest, which will consist of a display wall embedded with forty iPod touches, each holding fifty images from McQueen collections.
A collaboration between On|Off, LFW's leading independent showcase, and Catwalking.com, the exhibit will span McQueen's entire catwalk archive, holding a total of two thousand pictures from the designer's illustrious career, including collection pics from both his eponymous line and from his stint at Givenchy.

Lee Lapthorne, Director of On|Off commented, 'I just wanted to do something - something to show that we respect him and his inspiration to so many many of our designers...and the wall will give people an opportunity to reflect and remember.'
A number of tributes are expected to take place during the capital's Fashion Week, which runs from tomorrow until Wednesday next week.

What a lovely idea. He was such an inspiration for his vision and constantly pushing the boundaries. He was a pure genius and although will be sorely missed, has made his mark in fashion history. Hairdressers looked to him for inspiration and tributes flooded in from hairdressers across the world.
