Hollywood descends on Paris for Couture Fashion Week

Couture Fashion Week got off to a giddy start in Paris yesterday with John Galliano setting the pace for the days ahead with a lavish, equestrian-themed Dior collection and Hollywood descending on mass to join the ride.

Stars including Anne Hathaway, Tina Turner and Kylie Minogue had all flown in for the occasion, alongside Couture regular Dita Von Teese and new fashion face Tavi, the 13-year-old fashion blogger who's become something of a front-row fixture at the shows of late. In fact, the massive purple bow she wore to watch Dior, designed by milliner-to-the-stars Stephen Jones, was almost as much of a talking point as the clothes on the runway, especially for those unfortunate enough to be sitting in the rows directly behind.

For those who had a clear view, the dressage-inspired collection was a cantering treat for the eyes, filled with nipped-in, candy pink hunting jackets, long skirts created with acres of duchess satin (if you're wearing Dior Couture, it's safe to say you don't need to worry about horse hairs on your riding outfits) and halterneck evening gowns just perfect for a post-hack ball.

Accessories were as opulent as the clothes they adorned with chandelier earrings so bedecked with jewels they swung as low as the models' shoulders. Gem-studded cuffs, meanwhile, were worn over arm-length leather gloves, although it was the lengthy riding crops and velvet top hats that really got the heart racing. They might not be suitable office attire, but if by some miracle we ever have enough money to actually buy couture, we like to think we'd accessorise it the way the designer intended.
