Kate, Pen and Nicole shine at Nine premiere

Last night saw the world premiere of Nine in London, with not one, not two, but three of the film's leading ladies hitting the red carpet - as Nicole Kidman, Penelope Cruz and Kate Hudson came to town.

It might have been a freezing cold evening in Leicester Square, but that didn't deter the stars from putting on a suitably stylish show.

Despite donning some elegant outerwear, the stars bravely went sans coat for a portion of the red carpet walk - and boy are we glad they did, because it meant we could get a good look at their gorgeous gowns

Leading the way was Kate Hudson, who threw off her long white blazer to reveal a simply stunning Atelier Versace Mikado Ball gown. The intricate creation included a silver embellished bodice, with a dual-length skirt that cascaded in huge folds and pleats. Some eye-wateringly tall silver platforms and cute front-plaited hair, completed the look.

Following closely behind her was on and off-screen pal, Penelope Cruz. The Spanish senorita also opted for high-octane glamour, in this fit-for-a-princess silver-blue Ralph Lauren frock, with full ruffled skirt and sparkling bodice.

The third of the leading ladies, Nicole Kidman, went for a somewhat more reserved approach to her red carpet dressing, opting for a sweetly stylish white jacket, pleated skirt and nude cut-out heels. A perfectly pretty ensemble, but still, we can't help but wish she had followed in her fellow stars' footsteps, and worn something a little more show-stopping.

Judi Dench, Shingai Shoniwa - Nine Premiere - Fashion News - Marie Claire

Also present at the starry premiere, was Dame Judi Dench - who also stars in the musical movie - wearing a chartreuse Betty Jackson dress.

Lead singer of The Noisettes, Shingai Shoniwa, also put in a well-heeled appearance, wearing a dress by designer-of-the-moment, David Koma.

Kate definitely looked the best - that dress is amazing. Penelope wasn't far behind though.

Very disappointed with Nicole'e effort though. She can look so glam when she wants to.

Don't they all look gorgeous! I LOVE Kate's dress, closely followed by pen's. But agree Nicole could have made more effort. Mind you, I wouldn't want to be surrounded by that lot on the red carpet... talk about battle of the dresses!

Have to agree that Kate looked stunning, Penelope looked beautiful but Nicole looked too restrained/ rather boring. But I also thought that Judi Dench looked marvellous!

Shingai and Judy look the best, esp Shingai as she looks v funky and has not sucumbed to the hollywood cliche..Nicole would look great if she had a paair of tights on, she must have been freezing.

Penelope looks fantastic as always. Having had the privilege of meeting Dame Judi once, when she was the epitome of elegance and charm, it was great to see her looking just as beautiful as the younger stars.
