Does Lady Gaga have the boldest shoulders of them all?

This season there are bold shoulders - think Balmain's trophy jackets loved by the likes of Beyonce and Rihanna - and then there are Lady Gaga's bold shoulders. Don't be confused, style fans, we're talking two very different takes on fashion's new favourite focal point.

While we have become accustomed to peaked and exaggerated designs adorning the A-list this season, you can always trust the Lady to take a trend to its most extreme form.

So, for a signing session of her new album, The Fame Monster, yesterday in LA, the singer stepped out in a jacket with shoulders so high, they could be considered a built-in headrest.

While on first glance the outfit appeared uncharacteristically demure - wide-leg black trousers, a coordinating jacket and heels - on closer inspection, this was far from your typical sartorial fare.

Naturally, the plunging neckline ensured there was a degree of flesh-flashing - an essential element in any Gaga get-up - then you notice those sci-fi-esque, ear-grazing shouders.

While the bold shoulder trend might have made its way into our day-to-day wardrobe, we think we'll leave this version to the Lady.

She looks like a hunch back. Usually I love Gaga, but this is ridulous - and not in a good way.
