'A disaster' says Ungaro of Lindsay Lohan’s collection
By Sarah Karmali on Thursday 12 November 2009
Oh dear, poor Lindsay Lohan. While her debut collection as Artistic Adviser of Ungaro was harshly slammed by most critics, now the brand's original creator has spoken out about it.
And he's been far from complimentary, referring to the latest runway show as ‘a disaster.'
‘I'm furious,' he told press in Lisbon on Monday. ‘But there isn't a thing I can do.'
Emanuel Ungaro founded the fashion house in 1965, but sold it upon retirement in 2005 - meaning that he no longer has involvement with the brand that carries his name and legacy.
Although not directly commenting on Lindsay's involvement, he seemed very keen to distance himself from having anything to do with the label.
‘I have absolutely no link with that house,' he said, before adding that the label was ‘on its way to losing its soul.'
LiLo was announced as Artistic Adviser in September, and less than a month later, presented her debut collection in collaboration with designer Estrella Archs.

It was the most ridiculous idea to appoint Lindsay as 'artistic adviser' in the first place. What were they thinking?!

I feel so sorry for the real Ungaro... he's lost all control over something he built up, and he has to watch it all go down the drain. NO idea who's idea Lindsay was - if I was them I'd ditch her, fast!

The collection lacks a certain element of couture and sophistication, alot of it looks like a cheap cross between Wallis and Dorothy Perkins. Lindsay Lohan, what were they thinking?
