Giles Deacon collaborates with fashion fairytale
By Sarah Karmali on Friday 23 October 2009
British Designer of the Year Giles Deacon has put his creative skills to work on designing a stylish cover for fashion fairytale Threads, the debut novel by author Sophia Bennett.
The book, which is already set to be a Christmas best seller, promises to win the hearts of stylistas of all ages - and is described as a rags-to-riches, Cinderella story of friendship, fashion and compassion.
The plot centres around three best friends who meet a young African refugee girl, and upon seeing her sketches of dresses, decide to pool their talents in order to create something ‘truly wonderful.'
Keen to highlight the plight of Africa's misplaced children, Sophia Bennett and publishers Chicken House, have joined with Save the Children in publishing the special Giles Deacon designed edition - with £1 for every copy sold being donated to the charity.
Feel-good and fashion fabulous? That's a perfect Christmas prezzie right there.
The Giles Deacon special edition will be on sale in all good bookshops priced £9.99.
