X Factor: Fashion round-up
By Lucy Hutchings on Monday 12 October 2009
The X Factor final 12 might have kicked off their race for the coveted top prize this weekend, but here on the MC desk, the real battle is in the style stakes.
Of course, fashion-wise, the fight for supremacy has nothing to do with the contestants, and the judges pulled out all the stops for their first live show of the season.

For Cheryl Cole, this meant reaching for the designer names, and she slipped into a Versace Atelier gold silk mini cage dress, with full structured skirt.
The intricate design featured a tulle embroidered bodice with handpainted feathers and metallic sequins.
Keeping things a tad more simple, Dannii Minogue rocked a floor-skimming fuchsia gown, with plunging neckline.
Meanwhile when it came to the contestants, no amount of flesh-flashing could save Kandy Rain. The quartet vamped it up in an array of barely-there looks - which mainly consisted of black bustiers, and very little else. We guess they didn't have the sex factor, and were kicked off during last night's show.
Fashion winners were low on the ground for the first show, but we have high hopes for Rachel Adedeji. She might have opted for down-time staple, skinny jeans, but added on-trend appeal with a sequin stripy jumper and tangerine towering platforms.
Jeans cropped up on the X Factor stage for a second time, courtesy of Stacey Solomon, who failed to wow in a Marilyn Monroe motif tee and studded sandals.
Dull and demure, Miss Frank covered up in head-to-toe black ensembles, while Lucie Jones' purple dress was pretty, but no show-stopper.
So, dear readers, it's down to you! Who was your best dressed X Factor of the week? Did you love Cheryl in her lantern dress, or did Dannii's hot pink look do it for you? Let us know in the comments box below.

As usual Cheryl goes over the top with complete taste bypass, just goes to show, money can't buy you style or class.
