We had to do a double-take when pics of Nicola Roberts at the Pride of Britain Awards first pinged into our inbox this week - not only was she wearing a wedding dress for her red carpet moment, it was Carrie Bradshaw's wedding dress!

Yes, now we know that when Sarah Jessica Parker attempted to walk down the aisle in the Sex and the City movie, her version of the Vivienne Westwood frock was decidedly more frou-frou, but the design Ms Roberts sported is bridal none-the-less, and on sale now at Net-a-Porter.com.

In character as Carrie, SJP's champagne silk gown included a voluminous skirt, gathered and plumped into a floor-skimming puffball. It was styled up with a ubiquitous veil and blue feathered headpiece.

Nicola's number has the same peaked sweetheart neckline, built-in corset and full puff skirt, albeit without the extra full-length layer.

Toning down the 'I do' styling, she paired hers with studded round-toe courts and an Alice band, complete with black corsage.

I love Nicola's take on this look which is a surprise to me as I am a big SJP fan...could of chosen a better shoe but otherwise I think she has made this her own!

Dont think either looks good ..it drowned SJP in film..top just looks so vast and unflattering ..they both look like they dont have enuf to fill it out!! Cant really compare them tho..two different ideas..Dont like Ns headgear- too harsh and didnt like ..quote...' I wore a bird on my head' headwear either....they both look so much cooler in simpler gear.

It is a horrifc dress...the cut is terrible on the bust. Makes them both look like a bag of bones!

Also does nothing for either lady with their pale skin.

SJP wins easily, Nicola is relegated to bridesmaid! And Anon, neither of them are supposed to fill the dress - it has an oversized neckline. It looks like that on purpose!

Personally I preferred the Lanvin dress from the Vogue shoot, or the Carolina Herrera one but this one certainly made a statement!!

The dress fits Nicola a lot better, it just swamps SJP. Nicola looks extremely chic and has made it her own, she's wearing the dress whereas the dress wears SJP, I hated it on her in the film.

And besides, Nicola is so beautiful, whereas SJP could rarely, if ever, be called beautiful, so it's a bit of an unfair comparison.

SJP looked ridiculous in this dress in the film, it totally overpowered her. Nicola, on the other hand, looks fantastic in the toned-down version - she looks quirky, elegant and cool, unlike SJP's fashion victim look.

...re comments earlier this month..still think they both look best in their own simpler styling...reminds me of the cutout dresses that little girls used to bend the tabs round on a cutout doll figure years ago..

I think..Nicola look's elegant and cool!..I luv her idea ov nice, simple, and short..it's good she never went with a long one!!! It's also a very good picture because Nicola has not gone 2 far with her tan..very classy..
