Larger models spark controversy at London Fashion Week
By Lucy Hutchings on Sunday 20 September 2009
Model size was sparking debate, yet again, at London Fashion Week yesterday, as designer Mark Fast sent size 12 and 14 girls down his spring/summer 2010 catwalk.
Leading to a backstage row, the stylist hired for the event quit on learning that three larger sized models had been chosen to showcase Fast's signature knitted minidresses.
Speaking to The Observer, Fast's managing director, Amanda May, confirmed that the stylist had resigned, but added that she was, 'so happy we stuck to our guns over the casting.'
Bringing the size zero debate back to Fashion Week again, Fast decided to use normal size girls after working with size 12 model Hayley Morley for the All Walks Beyond the Catwalk exhibition.
Launching to coincide with Fashion Week, the photography exhibit features models ranging from size 8 to 16, and aged 18 to 65, wearing clothes by London's hottest new designers.

Finally average size women! All in all fashion should be for all women, not a skinny ones!
I'd add even that, that fashion designers should employ just 'girls from the streets' to strut the catwalk, because there's really no need to pay a huge salaries for famous models. In fact presenting garments on the catwalk requires no skills and every average girl/woman could do that for much smaller salary! It's a waste of money paying big money for those famous models-let them teach to live frugal life, without extravagance!
