Star spots at the Serpentine Gallery's Summer Party

The Serpentine Gallery's annual Summer Party took place last night, attracting its usual mix of London society and A-list stars.

Despite a rather overcast evening (black umbrellas replaced flowers in the large pot plants studded around the venue), those in attendance were still in their summer finest with a Matthew Williamson-clad Thandie Newton leading the best-dressed list.

Parading a pre-spring 2010 piece (talk about getting ahead of the fashion pack), the darling Ms Newton, accompanied by husband Oliver Parker, accessorised with Williamson shoes and jewellery, too.

However, she wasn't the only star to get the flashbulbs popping, model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley also looked gorgeous in a long purple satin slip and sequinned bolero from, would you believe it? Topshop, while Lauren Laverne bucked the dress trend in black pedal pushers and a royal blue velvet jacket.

Fashion fabulous!
