Oxfam 'reinvents' fashion
By Ellie Omahoney on Thursday 4 June 2009
Oxfam is working with celeb stylist Mrs Jones, to reinvent its Camden shop as the ultimate fashion resource for independent, original style seekers.
Mrs Jones, who has worked with stars including Kylie, Goldfrapp and The Killers will be hosting workshops, including one showing customers how to reinvent past fashion items to create a unique personal style.
Talking about the launch of the new store, Mrs Jones said: 'Oxfam has always been a part of my life, and I would not be in the position I am today without it. Every artist I’ve worked with has had an Oxfam reworked piece. In fact, I don’t think there’s one good fashion designer who hasn’t been to Oxfam and been inspired.'
Oxfam has 720 shops nationwide and sees the absolute necessity for the DIY initiative to have a far greater reach than just London. The online store at oxfam.org.uk/diy will mirror the concept, complete with fun interaction and imagery, plus the option to purchase vintage finds on line.
The Oxfam D.I.Y store is at 89 Camden High Street, London NW1. For more information, visit www.oxfam.org.uk/diy.
