Stars get prim and proper at the polo
Rex Features
Prince Harry received a star-studded reception in New York this weekend, as Madonna, Kate Hudson, Chloë Sevigny and Marc Jacobs stepped out to watch the young royal take part in a charity polo match.
In the States for his first official trip to New York, the Prince played in the Veuve Clicquot Manhattan Polo Classic on Governors Island, where he helped lead his team to a 6-5 victory.
Giving the A-list the perfect excuse to get prim and proper, style was typically demure, with Sevigny leading the pack in a cream Chloe short suit, white buttoned up shirt and straw boater hat.
A newly brunette Kate Hudson worked a similar theme, in a white sundress, wide brimmed straw hat and nude heels.
Meanwhile Madonna was in full mum mode, with sons Rocco and David in tow. The family were joined by designer Marc Jacobs and his partner Larenzo Martone.
The event has particular resonance for the British Prince. Not only did all proceeds go to his charity Sentebale, which helps children living in poverty in the African nation of Lesotho, but he called the visit 'all the more poignant,' as his mother, Princess Diana, had loved New York.
