The Obamas played host to a glittering array of A-list faces this weekend at The Annual White House Correspondents' Gala Dinner in Washington, and though Hollywood's finest may have been out in abundance, all eyes were on the ever-stylish first couple.

Wearing a fuchsia Michael Kors shift, with a stunning statement floral necklace, Mrs Obama reminded us all why she's the fashion world's new darling – the bold hue was simple stunning. 

As for her guests, and the Obamas weren't the only eminent couple in the house.

Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher upped the glamour factor, with the actress wowing in a mushroom asymmetric Versace pre-fall '09 gown. The perfect accessory? We love her glittering Roger Vivier clutch, but it's just about trumped by her seriously dapper beau.

Another one-shoulder wonder came courtesy of actress Elizabeth Banks, who was positively glowing in a petrol blue floor-length gown, belted at the waist with a glittering silver belt. 

And the Hollywood royalty just kept on coming. Wearing an ensemble from her self-designed Holmes-Yang collaborative collection, and Katie Holmes went demure in head-to-toe ivory, and towered above her vertically challenged husband, Tom Cruise.

Joining a bevy of her Housewife co-stars, including Kyle MacLachlan, Felicity Huffman and Dana Delany, Eva Longoria Parker went ultra-feminine in a nude corsage-covered gown, which though pretty, slightly swamped the petite starlet.

On a chicer note, Natalie Portman was the picture of elegance in a Balenciaga sweeping black gown. Her side-swept up 'do was the ideal finishing touch.

Flying the flag for the Brits, and Gordon Ramsay and wife Tana went matching in top-to-toe black, while newly-wed Natasha Bedingfield went the other end of the monochrome spectrum, in an ivory beaded number.
