Obamas touch down in Britain
By Lucy Hutchings on Wednesday 1 April 2009
The Obamas touched down in Britain last night for their first official European visit, and although all thoughts may be on G20 summit, it was the First Lady's style that's really caught our attention.
Continuing her reign as the world's most stylish politico, Michelle Obama started as she meant to go on, boarding Air Force One in an ivory Thakoon custom-made coat, and Jimmy Choo Jade heels.
The chic trip scored its second style hit as the couple arrived in the UK, with the First Lady exiting the plane in a chartreuse Jason Wu sheath dress, a black Michael Kors coat and an Azzedine Alaia belt.
Just twelve hours later, and it was straight to business. Arriving at Number 10 for breakfast with the Browns, Mrs O brought a stylish breath of fresh air to Downing Street, and looked radiant in a J. Crew pistachio pencil skirt and cream embellished cardigan.
Although on European soil, the First Lady is staying steadfastly loyal to her favourite US designers. Thakoon, Jason Wu and Michael Kors have all cropped up in her wardrobe since the campaign trail, as has US high street favourite, J. Crew.
Tonight, the Obamas will attend a dinner prepared by Jamie Oliver at Downing Street, hosted by the Prime Minister.
The world leaders will dine separately from their spouses, with the women joined by British celebrity guests including J K Rowling, Naomi Campbell, athlete Dame Kelly Holmes and Gavin and Stacey star, Ruth Jones.
We can't wait to see what the First Lady has in store for the occasion. Who knew politics could be so stylish?
