Brits: Fashion round-up

Cheryl Cole at the 2009 Brit Awards

Glitz and glam were the order of the evening at the Brits last night, as the cream of the music industry wowed on the red carpet.

Celebrating their first ever Brits win, Girls Aloud were the belles of the ball, in full on colour co-ordination with a series of white and blush pink gowns.

Although the colours may have been similar, in style, the dresses were completely different, and the Girl winning our sartorial vote was Nadine.

Showing her fashion-forward credentials, her strapless blush minidress was by William Tempest, a runner-up at last year's Fashion Fringe, who is fast becoming a name to watch in the fashion industry.

As for the other Girls, and though her J. Mendel frock was a touch OTT, Nicola managed to outshine her fellow bandmates, while Kimberley wore Roberto Cavalli.

Sarah and Cheryl fought out it out for the title of least flattering frock, with Sarah falling out of her Vivienne Westwood, and Cheryl's A-line Georges Chakra dress failing to wow.

Other style stars to note, include the night's top winner, Duffy who, as per usual, played it safe in an LBD while, as the evening's presenter, Kylie ensured all eyes were on her in a series of scene-stealing styles.

Best-dressed list fave Alexa Chung didn't disappoint, and brought her signature brand of contemporary cool to the red carpet with a blue sequinned vintage dress and Chanel quilted clutch.

As for the bad, and Katy Perry may have been opting for fashion-forward with her PVC American Apparel leggings and Hello Kitty rhinestone-encrusted corset, but the look was more Hamley's than high end.

Although we have praised Estelle in the past for having fun with her fashion, her voluminous puff-sleeved Dolce & Gabbana dress didn't convince us this time. More sci-fi than stylish, we think.

Why I always seem to never agree with magazine choices regarding best/worst dressed?
In my opinion, out of the five girls aloud, Nadine is the dress I like the least!
