Jason Wu plans full fur collection

Designer Jason Wu may have seen his style star rise when Michelle Obama chose his white asymmetric gown for the inugural ball, but he's already making enemies in the fashion world, announcing that his next collection will feature a significant amount of fur.

The day following the inaugural ball, Wu's website received  an unprecedented four million hits, as the world sat up and took notice of his little-known label.

Now though he has sparked outrage with the announcement that his autumn/winter '09 collection, set to show in New York on 13 February, will be heavy on the animal cruelty.

'I'm doing a significant fur collection, and the message will be all about luxury,' he told The Daily last week. 'Fashion is also sort of escapism, and women need beautiful dresses to lose themselves in.'

Expect to see Wu get a new type of notorierty - with such declarations it should be no time before he's PeTA's new poster boy.
