Katie shines at Cruise premiere

For months we've been inundated with pics of Katie Holmes in dress-down-mode while en route to her Broadway show, but last night she reminded us of her A-list status.

Taking to the red carpet, for the Berlin premiere of husband Tom Cruise's new movie Valkyrie, the actress was back to her glamorous best, wowing in an Escada black maxi column dress, plunging at the neckline with embellished detailing.

Towering over her other-half, she looked elegant and feminine, with her cropped hair tousled, and her make-up radiant.

It's been a while since the Hollywood power couple have graced the red carpet together. Holmes has been based in New York, where she has recently finished a three-month run on Broadway, in play All my Sons.

It has been confirmed that she is now set to return to movies, joining the cast of comedy The Extra Man, which starts filming in February.

As for the film of the night, and Valkyrie sees Cruise take on the role of Col. Claus Graf von Stauffenberg, who devised a plot to assassinate Adolf Hitler during World War II.

Speaking to the press, Cruise said last night, 'I think it’s the most challenging film I've ever made. The whole time, we carried a huge burden of the responsibility of the history, to represent the spirit of the resistance and history in the most accurate way and also ... deliver a piece of entertainment.'
