Posh dresses sell-out at Selfridges
By Lucy Hutchings on Friday 5 December 2008
Victoria Beckham's collection of high-end, high-price dresses hit Selfridges stores yesterday, and proved an instant sell-out hit with shoppers.
By 3pm, just three of the dresses were left on the almost-bare rail, The Guardian reports, the rest having been sold that morning, and at a private event the evening before.
With the collection limited to a production of just 400, which will go on sale worldwide, the range has retained an exclusive, limited-edition feel, which has created a buzz within style circles.
Selfridges has bought 58 of the dresses, and will exclusively sell them until next month, at which point the range will go on sale internationally at Harrods, Bergdorf Goodman and Neiman Marcus in the USA, and Restir in
Tokyo.
The success of the collection comes in the same week that Posh has spoken out about her battle to be taken seriously in the fashion industry.
Speaking to The Times, she explained, 'Being in the Spice Girls, fashion-wise probably didn't open any doors. If anything it shut doors and I've had to bang them down.'
On the band's signature look, she added, 'Emma had her bunches, Mel C had her tracksuit on. I had a little black dress that everyone said was Gucci, which it wasn't - it was Miss Selfridge. I was never that good a singer but I think I am good at fashion. '
And as for the hefty price tags - the cheapest dress left on the rail yesterday cost a cool £1,390 – Mrs Beckham commented, 'In these recessionary times, and at these prices, women are looking for something that will be an investment, aren't they?'

According to Selfridges they received 17 dresses between their London and Manchester concessions and at the end of trading on the first day, there were 3 left...while selling 15 dresses is nice...will it pay for posh's face cream?

I think Mrs Beckham is living in a world above the clouds, possibley cuckoo land - the majority of us do not take home 1,390 a month let alone being able to 'invest' in one of her dresses!
