Costumes from screen and stage to go on sale
Thousands of vintage garments and costumes are set to go on sale next month, as London's oldest costumier, Angels, opens it archives for the first time.
For those that are unfamiliar with the iconic store, Angels is Europe's longest established supplier of costumes for film and TV.
Loved by fashion designers seeking for inspiration -Marc Jacobs and Stella McCartney have been known to browse the rails - it is a veritable treasure trove of vintage gems.
Now it has announced the first ever sale in its 160 year history, which will see 30,000 items of vintage clothing, accessories and jewellery be put up for grabs.
Tim Angel, the fifth generation of the Angels family to run the business, comments, 'Over the years we have accumulated the world's largest collection of authentic costumes. Now we are running out of space and, given repeated demands from the public to buy items of our stock, the time is right to hold this People’s Sale.'
With everything from high street to couture, to costumes made for films, such as Indiana Jones and Star Wars, the event looks set to attract everyone from fashionistas to collectors.
Items will not be priced individually, and instead attendees will buy a bag, £10 for a medium, and £20 for a supersize or costume jewellery bag. This can then be filled up with items.
