Westfield receives all-star welcome
With the Sugababes behind the tills, Twiggy browsing in M&S and Leona Lewis belting her heart out in the opening ceremony, London mega-mall Westfield saw a suitably starry launch yesterday.
The £1.6 billion development in West London, which spans 43 acres, and took five years to build, finally opened its doors yesterday, to hordes of waiting shoppers.
On hand to help proceedings, Yasmin Le Bon was one of the first famous faces to make a show, arriving to cut the ribbon at the new House of Fraser.
Over at M&S Stuart Rose teamed up with Twiggy and Erin O'Connor to open the high street giant's massive Westfield store, while Dannii Minogue and model Paul Sculfor did the honours at Next.

The array of celebrity faces even got behind the tills, with the Sugababes serving the first customers of the day at Boots.

For the opening ceremony Leona Lewis took to the stage, where she was joined by London Mayor Boris Johnson.
Johnson told the crowds, 'I believe this shopping centre is a fantastic vote of confidence in London as the world's greatest venue for the buying and selling of goods and services,' he said.
Westfield is the UK's third largest shopping centre, following Gateshead's MetroCentre and Bluewater in Kent and contains 50 restaurants and a cinema, as well as the 265 shops.
