Sarah Palin calls wardrobe scandal 'ridiculous'

Sarah Palin has called the controversy over her high-price wardrobe 'absolutely ridiculous.'

The vice presidential candidate faced a storm of criticism, when it was revealed that the Republican National Committee had spent $150,000 on her campaign clothing.

The massive bill was leaked by US political website politico.com, which revealed that Palin had embarked on shopping sprees at Saks Fifth Avenue in New York and St. Louis, spending $49,425 and Neiman Marcus in Minneapolis, where she wracked up a bill of $75,062.

Now Palin has hit back in an interview with Entertainment Tonight, asking why it is only the women who are questioned over their clothing.

'There is a kind of this double-standard that's going on' she told interviewer Mary Hart,'I don't hear the guys being talked about their wardrobe.'

She elaborated, 'I had not expected that our kids would be a target, and that there would be kind of a double-standard, with some suggestions of some sexism even.'

Since the controversy, Palin has taken to wearing her own clothes again on the campaign trail, taking to the stage in Florida last weekend in blue jeans and jacket.

She stated to the crowd, 'I'm back to wearing my old clothes from my favourite consignment shop in Anchorage, Alaska.'

But despite her reaction to the scandal, Palin told Hart that she did not take the affair personally. 'I'm not going to complain about that because if my skin isn't thick enough to handle that today as a candidate then I shouldn't even be running for vice president,' she added.

But finally she got it right, her skin is thick and "She should not be running for Vice President"
