Tom Ford to direct first film
Tom Ford is set to ditch fashion for film, to make his directorial debut.
The former Gucci designer will take to the director's chair for A Single Man, an adaptation of Christopher Isherwood's 1964 novel, which will star Colin Firth, Julianne Moore and Matthew Goode.
Firth will play a gay British professor living in Los Angeles; Goode will star as his boyfriend, while Moore will take the role of the professor's lifelong friend. The film will span a single day, and will be shot in LA.
The confirmation comes three years after Ford formed his own production company, Fade to Black and filming is rumoured to be starting next month.
Ford left Gucci in 2004 after a ten-year stint at the fashion house. He was widely credited as turning around the success of the brand, and creating the massively successful company that it now is.
He has since started his own men's fashion line, an eyewear collection and launched fragrances, all under the Tom Ford name.
