Liz Hurley tops red carpet dresses
Elizabeth Hurley's infamous safety pin dress has been voted the best red carpet gown of all time.
A 29-year-old Hurley wore the black Versace frock as she accompanied then boyfriend Hugh Grant to the premiere of his movie, Four Weddings and a Funeral, back in 1994. Often touted as the dress that launched Hurley's career, its plunging neckline and daring side panels ensured that she dominated the headlines.
The poll, conducted by Debenhams, asked 3000 women to choose their all-time favourite red carpet dress.
Following Hurley's winner, are dresses worn by some of the world's most stylish women. In second place is Audrey Hepburn's 1954 Givenchy Oscar dress, quickly followed by two more Oscar frocks, Julia Robert's 2001 vintage Valentino, and Catherine Zeta Jones's 1999 red Versace gown.
In terms of designers, Versace dominates the top 5, with three of the dresses coming courtesy of the Italian design house.
