Victoria Beckham PVC boots

Marie Claire Celebrity News: Victoria and David Beckham Rex Features

Victoria Beckham ensured that all eyes were on her this weekend at the launch of her new fragrance, arriving in a pair of thigh-high PVC boots.

While husband David kept things classic in a three piece suit, Mrs Beckham made a serious fashion statement, donning a structural little grey dress, teamed with the gravity-defying footwear, which do not feature a heel.

Created by designer Antonio Berardi, the sculpted boots cost £3,300 a pair. Thigh-high, they cling to the legs, to create the look of leather leggings.

Although the style appears impossible to walk in, Berardi told the Daily Mail that it was easier than you would think. 'They are perfectly balanced,' he said. 'When the girls come for fittings, they look a bit daunted, but by the end they say it's just like wearing a regular shoe.'

A spokesperson for the brand added, 'The shoe has a bigger platform sole which stretches back further than normal and gives support under the arch of the foot.'

'When walking though, you have to put your toe rather than your heel down first and you cannot wear them for very long. They are not dangerous because you would have to lean quite far back before you fell over.'

This is not the first style of its kind created by Berardi. A pair of heel-less sandals were snapped up by Posh last season, and were also spotted on Uma Thurman and Gwyneth Paltrow.

The Beckhams were in New York to launch their latest men's and women's fragrances, both entitled Signature. The event at Macy's saw hundreds of fans flock to the department store, to catch a glimpse of the glamorous couple.

Eew! I'm not a fan - makes her look alien-like. Oh, and the no-heel, huge platform look makes her feet look ginormous compared to her frail figure.

nothing new, those type of boots have been in fetish fashion for years.
also they look more like latex than pvc which is totally different fabric!

bless her everyone has seen the hair now, so she has to do something else to grab the headlines even if it means wearing those grim boots
