Vivienne Westwood launches album
Is there no end to Vivienne Westwood's many talents? The Grand Dame of British fashion has already conquered the fashion world, and now she is set to release her first album.
Entitled Catwalk Breakdown, the compilation is a veritable fashion mix tape, featuring sixteen of Westwood's favourite tracks, many of which have appeared in her catwalk shows.
The eclectic mix includes everything from contemporary to classical, with The New York Dolls' Personality Crises sitting alongside Tchaikovsky's Sugar Plum Fairy.
Commenting on her new venture, Westwood explained, 'My clothes always tell a story... And I choose the music accordingly. Sometimes the music can just be sexy, it can let you relax, look at the clothes, put people into a fantastic mood. Then it might just have to swing back and lift you up to the final triumph of the fashion show. These are some of the pieces that I’ve relied on over all these years –my classics. They’ve never failed me.'
And of course, the launch will be a suitably fashionable affair. Released 15th September, just in time for London Fashion Week, the album will be launched at an exclusive Selfridges event, which will see the Oxford Street store's Wonder Room be transformed into a Westwood extravaganze, featuring archive pieces, and current designs.
