Josef Fritzl 3,000 rape charges

Josef Fritzl, World News

Josef Fritzl will face up to 3,000 rape charges at his forthcoming trial, Austrian lawyers have confirmed.

The enormous number of charges has been calculated after the 74-year-old admitted to having sex with his daughter Elisabeth 'two or three times a week' throughout the 24 years he kept her locked up in an underground cellar.

The three-day trial could take place as early as December this year, but will be closed to the public, aside from opening remarks and sentencing.

State prosecutors expect to file formal charges by the end of October. However, there are concerns there will be difficulties finding an unbiased jury. Under Austrian law there must be eight jurors and two substitutes.

One legal source commented: 'We are a small country. There can't be 10 people out there who don't already have strong opinions about this man and what he's done.'

The man is worse than an animal, he should be castrated and locked in the dark for the rest of his sinful life.

How about one year for every rape then?
Of course I wouldn't allow him anything for 'good' behaviour, he can't be capable of good with so much evil in his soul!

What has he done to his daughter and those poor children? How will they rebuild their lives? This story is so sad I feel like crying. No punishment will make it right.

Do we have to be surprised in a world where counts the wonder, the greatest, the incredible? Which is this difference between Stieg Larsson's Millenium which is a fiction and Josef Fritzl's story which is reality. Yes, this TRUE story is becoming a fiction. Don't be surprised if somebody buy the dungeon to let people visit it. The most horrible the story, the most money to do with it. Fritzl is just the expression of the world we live in.

Worse than an animal? That is an insult to animals. Animals wouldn't do this, they love & protect their young (as a rule). Then there are those few that "eat" their young and that is Josef (nut case) Fritzl. Point is I am an animal lover. Comparing this EVIL to an animal just seems wrong. But I agree with the castrated and locked up part.

Where is the redemption in this story?
The problem should not be that the jury is unbiased, rather that whatever judgement is passed will not satisfy the moral outrage expressed by the worlds media.
Who can judge, who can pass sentence on a crime that cannot be matched?
I am an atheist, right now I hope that god does exist if only so he can pass judgement.
