Britain's Missing Top Model: The final episode

Marie Claire fashion - Britain's missing top model winner Kelly Knox

The final episode of Britain's Missing Top Model was aired on BBC3 last night – with marie claire the star attraction.

Winner Kelly Knox, whose prize was a fashion shoot in our magazine, was seen on-set with A-list photographer Rankin and plenty of familiar faces for those of us who call the marie claire HQ home.

Creative Director Stuart Selner was interviewed on camera, alongside Picture Editor Melissa Turner and, of course, Editor Marie O'Riordan, who told us later: 'It is the first time, to my knowledge, that marie claire has used a disabled model and drawn attention to it. I hope it empowers people when they look at her image.'

The biggest star of the show, however, was Kelly who worked the camera like a pro and even had Rankin smiling.

I love the pics of Kelly Knox, but I would have loved to have seen more. I really hope she has longevity in this business she is a beautiful girl who clearly has potential to be a very good and successful model. The industry just has to open it's mind and give her a chance.

My name is Bethany and I am 8 years old and I love the pictures of Kelly because she is the same as me! I was born without my right hand and I think Kelly looks beautiful and I hope that I might be given the chance to do something similar when I am old enough.

The prize could not have gone to a better person than you Kelly, a lovely woman so full of confidence and positive thoughts about yourself and so lacking in any bitterness or insecurity about your disability. You are a lesson to us all and certainly to me, who has seemed to be dogged by negative thoughts all my life despite having no obvious diability except being a bit short. You say you have never thought of yourself as disabled and I believe you...I saw the pictures of you proudly riding your bike, smiling in your ballet gear, swinging on a rope as a girl and how you jumped straight into the swimming pool at school without a second thought when first learning to swim. Then I thought of what my thoughts would probably have been in the same position...how can I ever ride a bike properly with one hand?....what about the brakes and getting on and of?....What is the point of doing ballet when I cannot use all my limbs and look graceful and hold a partner normally?....How could I ever be as good as anyone else swinging on ropes and playing in trees etc etc.? How can I ever be much good at swimming? It's just not fair!!!!! It would be so easy to bear a grudge and feel bitter about life. I see you were a legal secretary once and perhaps must have needed to type reasonably well...I'm sure I would have decided I could be no good at that either, but I bet you are better with one hand than my two any day! Then I thought about some of the things I did today...digging the garden(one handed?), knocking a nail in(one-handed?)playing guitar(one-handed?)driving the car(one-handed?), dressing, tying shoe laces and doing up buttons. How about cutting or filing your fingernails? You get the picture...all these things could conjure up a world of negativity in most people. But not our wonderful Kelly...you would just get on with it and do the best you could. You certainly are such a strong person Kelly and such an example to so-called able-bodied people like me. I can say you have changed the way I look at my life and I'm so glad I came to know you through this programme. I feel I can change myself now.

I could wish you good luck but you won't need it as I know you make your own. All the very best to you in your new career.
