Oprah sells off her wardrobe
By Lucy Hutchings on Friday 18 April 2008
Oprah Winfrey is giving fans the chance to own a little piece of her style, but rather than start her own fashion line, she has opened a store to sell off her own clothing.
Oprah's Closet sits in the corner of a large shop of Oprah souvenirs and memorabilia, which is positioned across the street from where her eponymous television show is filmed.
The small section features a rail of clothing, which rotates to feature around 20 pieces, each labelled with the tag, 'Harpo Inc. hereby certifies that the item to which this tag is attached is a genuine garment from the closet of Oprah Winfrey.'
Clothing ranges in size from a UK size 14-18, and features US high street pieces, such as Banana Republic, to high-end designer, including YSL, Prada and Chanel .
Explaining the appeal, the New York Times reported from the store this week, and spoke to customer Barbara Jean Hoy. 'The feeling is, Oprah had this on and now I'm wearing it! When you go in there, you feel just great, like you are somebody, like Oprah is touching you,' Hoy explained.
With all proceeds going to charity, the prices aren't exactly a bargain, but for Winfrey's many fans, it is a chance to own a piece of their idol.

I love Oprah like everyone else, but at the end of the day - It's 2nd Hand Clothes!!

Recycling is good for the planet, there's nothing wrong with 2nd hand in my opinion; besides people try clothes on in the changing rooms in shops (on a hot day?) so just how new are they when you buy them in a store?

"oprah touching you"

Oprah has worked hard to get where she is, in a racial environment like America Good on her.
The clothes and giving money to Charity, Great Idea, I buy second hand clothes in charity shops, give them a wash and away I go. I am sure the clothes in Oprah's shop are cleaned before they sell them, which means they are more like new than second hand. If I was in Chicago not UK I buy her clothes, she has a great dress sense, I admire what she wears.

Hello to Oprah and wish her continued success in the future. I would like to ask her to donate to me her dress that she wore on friday november 20, 2009. I would like to know the designer, and I am glad to see women wearing dresses again,
Many Thanks,
