Brits singles shortlist unveiled

Leona Lewis

Contenders for the Brit Awards Single of the Year have been announced today.

Hoosiers, Leona Lewis, Mark Ronson, Mika and Take That have made the shortlist for British Single of the Year at Wednesday's bash.

A public vote whittled down the final five from a list of ten.

The UK’s best-selling song of 2007, Bleeding Love by Leona Lewis, is up against Worried About Ray by the Hoosiers, Mark Ronson’s Valerie, Grace Kelly by Mika and Shine by Take That.

Meanwhile, Brit organisers have revealed that Doctor Who star, David Tennant, and Sir Ian McKellan will be among the celebrities to present awards at the event.

Destiny’s Child singer Kelly Rowland, Gossip frontwoman Beth Ditto, actor James Nesbitt and DJ Chris Moyles are also lined up to announce winners.

Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne will present the awards at Earls Court from two stages to mark the theme of ‘glam versus punk’.

The glam stage will feature golden drapes and a curtain of lights, with a ripped Union Jack on the punk stage.

Both will be the centrepieces of a mansion-style set, designed to look partly like the Addams Family's mansion and partly to reflect David and Victoria Beckham's home, dubbed ‘Beckingham Palace’.
