Gucci film biopic confirmed

A film biopic of the life of the Gucci family has been confirmed and legendary director Ridley Scott is at the helm.



Scott has teamed up with his Costa Rican wife, Giannina Facio, who will produce the upcoming movie, chronicling the wild and glamorous story of the Gucci family during the 1970s and '80s, when the fashion label was in its heyday and saw 153 shops move $500 million annually. The focus will fall on Maurizio Gucci, the grandson of founder Guccio Gucci.



Film studio Fox 2000 - who also backed The Devil Wears Prada - is the studio behind the project, promising a dramatic portrayal of the Gucci dynasty. However, with the script yet to be written, and the writers strikes still unresolved, fashionistas will be waiting some time before this hits the big screen.
