Mary-Kate and Ashley attacked by PeTA
Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen have become the latest celebrities to offend animal rights group PeTA, by regularly wearing fur and including fur items in their clothing line.
PeTA claims that the twins 'have ignored pleas to stop wearing fur and are still using it in their fashion collection.' As a result the group has dubbed the Olsens 'Hairy Kate and Trashly, the Trollson Twins.'
As part of the campaign, PeTA has unveiled a poster featuring the Olsens with the tagline 'fur is worn by beautiful animals and ugly people.' The poster was yesterday revealed at the twins star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, LA. PeTA has also added a feature to their web site where you can dress up the ghoulish looking Trollson's in an array of dead animal clothing, such as the doomed raccoon hats, kitty clutch and dead doggies bag.

I think that the Olsen twins are disguting to wear fur and think it's ok. They are always in the public eye and I would have thought they would know better than to want to ruin their reputation. The nicknames they have been given are mild. I could think of more than a few choice names for them!

trashing people is not the way to go about this it makes peta seem childish and silly

GO PeTa!!! THESE 'CELEBRITIES' NEED TO BE SHAMED INTO NOT WEARING FUR - THEY OBVIOUSLY HAVEN'T GOT THE BRAINS TO THINK FOR A MINUTE ABOUT WHAT HAS BEEN SACRIFICED FOR THEM TO WEAR IT. IT REALLY WORRIES ME THAT IT SEEMS TO BE COMING MORE AND MORE ACCEPTABLE TO WEAR IT AMONG THESE DUMB FASHIONISTAS - FAUX FUR LOOKS JUST AS GOOD!! REAL FUR LOOKS MUCH BETTER ON THE ANIMAL BORN WITH IT.

Serves them right!

Gosh
I'm so impressed NOT by PeTa's childish name calling.
Personally I would far rather see people wearing fur which is a natural product than polluting planet wrecking trashy synthetics. And frankly i find the arguments employed by the animal rights nuts to be totally without intellectual rigor and completely unconvincing.

I hate fur.

I think it's ignorance and stupidity that leads to a person wearing fur. It's incredible that in today's society people choose to behave like Neanderthals. If these people are sick enough to want innocent, helpless animals killed so that they can wear their skin they are probably the type of people who should be given a bone and stuck in a cave to live.
Comment by Shirin on December 12 11:31
Whatever PETA can do to stop animals being SKINNED ALIVE (see video on PETA site) in third world countries is fine by me. Mary-Kate and Ashley should know better and by wearing and promoting animal fur, they deserve every criticism and jibe they receive.
Comment by Mandy on December 12 11:48
In what world is it okay to kill something so you can wear it, when it really isnt necessary? I just have no respect for these people, they clearly have being brought up with no respect for any being but themselves.
Comment by Camille on December 12 12:27
When I read the adverse publicity about the twins I prefer to remember them in the sitcom "Full House" where they took in turns to play a happy little girl. It was a hilarious American show which I saw in Australia.
Comment by jacqueline on December 12 12:44
I think it is thoroughly disgusting that people can be SO selfish and self-centred that they turn a blind eye to such cruelty AND not be shy about it! They must be incredibly stupid girls with no morals.
Comment by Claire on December 12 13:15
Whatever your views on wearing fur are, it is completely unacceptable to resort to name-calling and bullying to get your message across. Shame on you PeTa!
Comment by Jen Lynn on December 12 15:36
Wearing fur is disgusting its the same as wearing skin these girls are supposed to be role models, they are just stupid ignorant little girls.

I believe PeTa has gone too far again. We live in a world where we are individuals, some do good things and others do things that not everyone agree with. Petty name calling is not mature, and uncalled for.
As for others that just jump on the band wagon take a good look in your closets. Do you have any real leather jackets, shoes, purses etc. and do you know if your wool sweaters were ethically made? PeTa stand for alot more than being against fur.
PETA focuses on four areas where animals suffer- factory farms, laboratories, the clothing trade, and in the entertainment industry. They also have other issues, including the killing of beavers, birds and other animals considered pest, and the abuse of dogs.
So leave the Olsen twins along unless you are so pure in word, thought and deed.
Comment by Eve on December 12 17:31
Fur looked better on animals.
Comment by Patricia Lyndsey on December 12 21:48
Are the animals dead before the fur is taken off or are they slaughtered?...because if they are already dead then surely there is nothing wrong with that?people give others their organs when they die.
i personally dont have much of a problem about fur..i dont wear any myself as i simply dont have the money for it....but PEta shouldnt bully the twins about fur. they get enough bad press as it is..give them a break

Being a Vegan and a huge fashion lover, PETA have done the right thing in my opinion. Fur should only be worn by people who need it to survive, not as a fashion statement, where synthetic fur, leather etc looks just as real! I wonder, would they wear their own pets??

Get over yourselves, the animals being skinned alive were the unlucky few. If they wanna wear fur let them be. People these days treat animals better than humans its pathetic. Theres teenagers getting shot, missing toddlers... and yet theres still people like you lot complaining about a skinned animal.
Comment by Stevie on December 13 08:39
Unfortunately, the animals are skinned alive. Look at the evidence:

Comment by Michelle on December 13 12:37
Animals should be given rights. Yes other things are happening to people but what everyone is forgetting is humans ARE animals!
they deserve respect, they provide the planet with diversity and the torture they have to go through is ridiculous.
Being skinned alive? Can you really say that is simply bad luck? Yes teenagers are shot, so are innocent animals and they aren't even used for their meat or for any 'justified reason', they are simply hanging trophies.
As a vegetarian and animal rights fan I feel the ignorance that is shown towards animals is disgusting.
PeTa are an organization that actually do something for their cause and I applaud them for that.
Comment by Daisy on December 13 19:44
I am a big fan of animals rights an I just wish people could think about this issue little deeper. We live in 21 century and nothing really changed for animals. They sould have similar rights like people. Al least they are honest and they do not kill for sake of fashion.
Comment by Monika on December 14 11:53
It is true that animals should have rights, but we should protect our own species to begin with and once that is sorted out then we can worry about them. Stop treating random animals that you have never seen better than people. They stick with their own species and would attack you if they get the chance.
I think that, yes, PeTA should do something about what they believe in and good for the animal lovers here and everywhere. But their website game on the Olsen twins is absolutely pathetic and is disgusting! Just stop wasting time, money and energy on these child-like campaigns and actually do something that will make a difference... I love animals and I don't believe that they should die for no reason. Killing for food is natural and part of the foodchain, as I will ALWAYS continue to eat meat. I accept Vegetarians' and Vegans' lifestyle choices so I believe that they should accept people who eat meat's lifestyle choice.
As for wearing the animals fur, if it is needed then it should be worn! However, in the name of fashion, I can't see how it is important enough to wear, it's cruel and looks tacky. But please please please will PeTA do some better campaigns if they want to be heard and taken seriously, because this campaign is a huge disappointment when they are intelligent people. It is also extremely difficult to bully some people out of their lifestyle choices also, so good luck.
Comment by Sarah on December 14 16:16
(To Stevie) Because of seeing these "unlucky few" animals being skinned alive, i have now become a non leather-wearing, vegetarian.(i have never bought/worn fur so that is a non-issue) This is my way of NOT contributing to something i don't believe in.
the bigger point here is that the "human species" need to not only be stewards of the planet but all the creatures that enhabit it. Animals cannot speak for themselves and it is up to us to speak for them.
I don't diagree that animals can be 'harvested' for food, but for FOOD only, and we need to make sure they are 'harvested' in a compassionate, and pain-free as possible way. Sheer brutatlity and torture of a man smashing the skull and stepping on the neck of a dog to sufficate it, says to me that that 'man' might have more "issues" than just 'harvesting' the animal.
Peace to everyone...
Comment by JJ on December 19 15:43
To you, JJ,
NO animals would NOT just attack you without any reason just because they could. They attack for food or if they feel threatened. Let us not be the first to point a finger here. But yes, I do agree with PETA being a group of individuals who do possess the intelligence to do greater things in their campaigns, but I must say, the so-called "pathetic games" on their sites are amusing. Sick, but amusing.
Comment by ANONYMOUS Org. on December 25 05:48
You know, you guys are right. Mud-slinging and bullying is not the way to win this fight. Skinning the Olsen twins alive and making clothing from THEIR skin...that's how to prove the point. Call me sick, it's the same thing as skinning a person, only our skin is more disgusting and it's bald.
Synthetics save lives. Period.
Would anyone like to disagree? I'm sure Anonymous would love to pay a visit to your place.

not eating meat is like slapping god across the face

I think PeTA should be ashamed for calling out Mk & Ash! Not everyones going to be on their side, and its really not their place to judge, or name call. People have their own opinions and choices, like PeTA for instance, its THEIR opinion about animals, and THEIR choice not to wear. They shouldn't act like child, and make ads saying the girls are ugly and gross, also they shouldn't put it on their hollywood walk of fame, they worked their way to get to that point that doesn't give them the right to post rude posters over it. GROW UP!
