Stars flock to the V&A for the Golden Age of Couture Gala

Kate Moss

Stars turned out in their droves last night for the launch party of the Golden Age of Couture exhibition at the Victoria and Albert Museum.

Supermodels Kate Moss, Agyness Deyn and Claudia Schiffer were among the glamorous guests who flocked to the gala to launch the exhibition, which celebrates Parisian and British couture between 1947 and 1957 - an era that Christian Dior described as the 'Golden Age' of fashion.

The event showcases stunning gowns by internationally-celebrated designers such as Balenciaga, Norman Hartnell, Givenchy and Dior, and gives onlookers a glimpse into the history and inspiration behind some of the most famous styles in the world.

But present-day dresses seemed to create just as much of a stir. Kate Moss plumped for head-to-toe elegance in a long-sleeved vintage Dior gold silk dress, while Claudia Schiffer oozed Fifties Hollywood glamour in a waisted, high-neck sparkly gown.

Other stars who wowed on the red carpet included Elizabeth Hurley, in a one-shoulder silver stunner, Eva Herzigova, who chose pretty pink ruffles, and Jade Jagger, who opted for a more overtly sexy halterneck dress.

But it wasn't all fashion perfection - WAG Alex Curran went slightly overboard with a full-bodied, feather-covered meringue.
